The Impact of Pen and Paper

I love pen and paper. Office supply stores have been my favorite stores to shop in since I was a child. Back-to-school shopping was (and still is!) my favorite time of the year.

Don’t get me wrong. I also love technology. I love how social media can connect us in amazing ways. I love using alarms on my phone for reminders. But nothing beats a clean sheet of paper and my favorite pen.

Sometimes I can’t help but laugh as I think about the oxymoron of having an online business that sells stationery.

I firmly believe in the impact and power of pen and paper. And I’m not the only one:

Putting pen to paper lights more fires than matches ever will.

You can make anything by writing.

A pen connects you to the paper. It definitely matters.

The weakest ink is better than the best memory.

Jessie Streamlined and Simple

There have been hundreds of studies proving that writing things down over using technology is beneficial and more efficient in regards to memory and the carrying out of written tasks and goals.

Writing is linked to improved creativity, critical thinking and problem solving skills.

You can read more about this here and here.

When I created Streamlined & Simple, I knew it needed to include a stationery line. I wanted it to be different from everything else on the market. I wanted it to be truly functional so that it could serve those using it really, really well. I coined the term “Functional Stationery” and it has set the tone for all we design and create:
